Hello, this is Dom…
From Vertigo Releasing, the post-apocalyptic thriller – 40 Acres – will have a release in select UK cinemas on 1st August, followed by a digital release on 4th August. Here’s what they had to say:
Hailey Freeman (Deadwyler) and her family are the last descendants of African American farmers who settled in 1875 in rural Canada after the first Civil War. In a famine-decimated future they struggle to make their last stand against those intent on taking their home.
Starring Danielle Deadwyler (Till, I Saw The TV Glow, Carry-On), Kataem O’Connor (Murdoch Mysteries, Time Cut, Heartland), and Michael Greyeyes (The King Tide, 1923, Wild Indian), the film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year to rave reviews from critics. 40 Acres is certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 91% critic score*.
40 Acres was directed by R.T. Thorne (Blindspot, The Porter), who brought over 20 years experience in directing to the production. 40 Acres is his feature debut, with a script he co-wrote with Glenn Taylor, and a story by Thorne and Lora Campbell (#Interns, Yoga 101).
Many thanks to Strike Media and Vertigo Releasing for providing the images above.
Dom.
