From Icon Film Distribution, & Sons – the new Bill Nighy film – will be released in cinemas on 21st August. Here’s what they had to say:

A world-renowned but reclusive novelist, convinced he is about to die, summons his estranged sons to his home. But instead of seeking forgiveness for his countless mistakes, he instead reveals a truly unbelievable secret that brings his beloved ex-wife back into his orbit. With decades of resentment, jealousy and rage on the verge of spilling over, this splintered family is forced to face an inevitable reckoning, for better or for worse.

This star-studded, darkly comedic drama is led by spellbinding performances from Academy Award nominees Bill Nighy (Living, About Time) and Imelda Staunton (The Crown, Vera Drake), BAFTA nominee George MacKay (1917, Rose of Nevada), BAFTA winner Dominic West (The Wire, Downton Abbey), Johnny Flynn (Operation Mincemeat, Ripley), and rising star Noah Jupe (Hamnet, A Quiet Place).

Directed by Pablo Trapero & Sons is based on the novel by David Gilbert and adapted by Oscar winning screenwriter Sarah Polley (Women Talking, Alias Grace). It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and had its UK Premiere at the BFI London Film Festival.
